1971 Gibson ES-150D + OHSC

1971 Gibson ES-150D + OHSC

Clean and lesser seen '71 Gibson ES-150D finished in Natural. A very nice example that has been cared for throughout its life with little sign of wear.
The fully hollow, double-cutaway body constructed from laminate Maple has an attractive grain to it, beautifully showcased under the clear lacquer finish. The neck is a three-piece Mahogany construction, with Made in USA stamp to the rear, typical of Gibson’s early ’70s builds. Small block inlay markers punctuate the Rosewood fingerboard and the neck offers a comfortable, slim, rounded profile with excellent playability across the board.Ā
Electronics include a pair of original Gibson Patent Sticker humbuckers with chrome covers, delivering warm, rich tones with a clear midrange and classic vintage bite. The wiring appears untouched, and the chrome hardware is all original, including the trapeze tailpiece and Gibson Deluxe double line/double ring tuners. The original witch hat knobs have been swapped out for amber speed knobs which, despite not being original, look great against the clean natural finish.
A beautifully preserved and great-sounding vintage instrument, this one is a fairly rare find—both for its finish and condition—and a wonderful representation of Gibson’s more experimental Norlin period. Comes complete with its original purple-lined, wide pebble hard shell case.
