1985 Tokai Breezysound TTE60 TM

This Tokai Breezysound TTE-60 TM dates to the early–mid 1980s and is a great example of Tokai’s highly regarded Tele-style builds from the golden era of Japanese guitar production. Finished in a distinctive burled, often referred to as “tortoiseshell”, mahogany top veneer, it offers a look that’s both subtly figured and a little out of the ordinary, setting it apart from more conventional finishes.

The guitar features a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and a comfortable medium C profile that feels immediately familiar in the hand. Construction is solid and reassuring throughout, with no repairs noted, and it remains in very good overall condition.

Electronics consist of a Kent Armstrong bridge pickup measuring a healthy 8.38k, paired with an unknown neck pickup reading 7.2k, giving a nicely balanced set with plenty of output and clarity. Hardware is chrome, with a Fender bridge fitted with brass saddles.

Overall, this is a cool, rare and really vibey Tokai Breezysound: well made, great-feeling, and tonally versatile, with a couple of thoughtful upgrades and a distinctive look. An excellent MIJ vintage option offering outstanding value and quality at its price point.
