2006 Fender Mark Knopfler Signature Stratocaster, Hot Rod Red
Excellent condition Fender Mark Knopfler Signature Stratocaster, finished in Hot Rod Red and built around a refined, player-focused specification that has made this signature model a standout in Fender’s Artist Series.
Based around a classic early-’60s style Strat format, this model recreates the look and feel of Knopfler’s famous red Strat while adding a few very usable modern touches. The comfort-contoured lightweight ash body gives the guitar a lively, resonant feel, while the Hot Rod Red finish delivers the distinctive visual character associated with one of the most tasteful Strat players of all time.
The neck is a tinted ’62 “C” shape maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and 21 medium jumbo frets. It is a comfortable, familiar profile, with enough vintage feel to keep things traditional but a slightly more practical fret size that makes it very easy to play. The Fender/Gotoh vintage-style tuners complete the period-inspired feel while offering reliable performance.
Hardware includes an American Vintage synchronized tremolo, giving the guitar that classic Strat response and shimmer. The control layout is the familiar Strat setup with 5-way switching, offering all the classic pickup combinations you would expect.
Tonally, the guitar is powered by three Texas Special single-coil Strat pickups. These have plenty of output, clarity and midrange, with the bite and snap you want from a good Strat. Clean, they deliver plenty of articulation; with some drive, they have a strong, vocal quality that suits blues, country, rock and Knopfler-style fingerpicked playing beautifully.
