2008 Gibson SJ-150, Natural

2008 Gibson SJ-150, Natural

2008 Gibson SJ-150 in Natural finish from the Bozeman, Montana factory. This is a seriously cool jumbo-bodied Gibson with stripped-back appointments and a big, open voice. In excellent condition throughout, this one has clearly been well cared for over the years.
A noteworthy feature of this particular example is its very tight-grain spruce top that displays some incredible, fine silking across the grain. The flame maple back and sides are great to look at and tonally they give that punch, tightness and clarity to the low end giving this SJ-150 that classic Gibson jumbo thump and projection, with sweet ringing highs perfect for strumming or heavy rhythm playing.
Appointments are simple and tasteful—an unbound rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl crown inlays, crown peghead inlay, a plain tortoiseshell pickguard with bordered edge, and an open moustache-style rosewood bridge. The result is a very classy, vintage-influenced look.
Tonally, it’s exactly what you'd want from a maple-bodied Gibson Jumbo—loud, clear, and full, with great separation and a rich low end and midrange growl when you dig in. The neck profile is a medium/large C that fills the hand nicely, and the action is 3mm on the bass side, 2.5mm on the treble with 5mm on the compensated saddle for further tweaks if required.
Complete with its original hard case, this is an excellent opportunity to grab a well-made Montana Gibson jumbo with standout tonewoods, clean lines, and a big acoustic presence!
