2013 Gibson Thunderbird, 50th Anniversary, Gold
Gibson marked half a century of the Thunderbird bass in 2013 with this striking 50th Anniversary reissue, finished entirely in gold to celebrate one of their most distinctive designs. Built with a mahogany neck-through construction and mahogany wings, it has the solidity and sustain the Thunderbird has always been known for, while the all-gold finish, gold hardware and black anniversary pickguard set it apart as something special. The original Rhythm and Lead T-Bird pickups, reflector knobs, triple-stud bridge and Grover tuners are all present and correct, with untouched wiring and pots.
Condition is very good throughout. There are signs of use and greening to the gold finish on the back of the neck and right hand thumb position. The neck is very comfortable and easy to navigate, and the long scale lends itself well to both fingerstyle and pick playing. Plugged in, it delivers that authoritative Thunderbird voice of deep, growling lows that anchor a band with ease, a rounded midrange that sits well in a mix, and a top end that stays articulate.
It comes complete with it's original case and paperwork - a very nice commemorative piece of Gibson history!
