Mule Tricone Resonator

Mule Tricone Resonator

This Mule Tricone Resonator in raw steel finish is a striking, hand-made resophonic instrument that delivers both exceptional acoustic voice and artisan build quality. Crafted by Mule Resophonic Guitars in Saginaw, Michigan, this resonator showcases the brand’s dedication to tonal depth, expressive dynamics and thoughtful construction.

The all-steel body with raw finish gives this guitar a bold visual identity and a naturally resonant acoustic character. Underneath the top sits a tricone resonator system, which produces a rich, complex sound with extended sustain, layered overtones and sensitivity to touch, from gentle fingerstyle to assertive slide work.

Scale length is a resonator-standard 25 inches, paired with a nut width around 1.75 inches and a comfortable ~20" fingerboard radius on its Ebony fretboard, offering a familiar feel for both acoustic and resonator players alike. The neck is typically torrefied maple with internal reinforcement, a combination that yields pleasing response and stability without sacrificing warmth or playability.

Tonewoods and hardware have been chosen to complement the resonator system: the raw steel body enhances projection, volume and character, while the ebony fingerboard and V profile neck neck are a joy to play.

In play, this Mule Tricone strikes a compelling balance of classic resonator personality and modern instrument refinement. It’s capable of sweet, singing tones with harmonic richness as well as gritty, gutsy attack when pushed, making it a versatile choice for blues, roots, folk and slide styles.

Whether you’re exploring resonator sound for the first time or adding a high-end, hand-crafted steel resophonic to your collection, this Mule Tricone embodies both acoustic authenticity and thoughtful luthiery, an instrument that feels as rewarding to play as it does to look at.
