2017 Rickenbacker 360, Black

2017 Rickenbacker 360, Black

A beautifully clean example of one of Rickenbacker’s most instantly recognisable designs, this 2017 Rickenbacker 360 is finished in classic black and presents in excellent condition throughout.

The 360 has long been one of the great alternative electric guitars, offering a sound and feel very much its own rather than simply sitting in familiar Fender or Gibson territory. With its rounded double-bound body style, semi-hollow maple construction and unmistakable Rickenbacker silhouette, it has that elegant, slightly futuristic look that has made these guitars so enduringly appealing.

This example features the familiar maple body and neck construction, paired with a rosewood fingerboard with triangular inlays. The gloss black finish suits the shape perfectly, giving the guitar a particularly sharp and understated look against the chrome hardware and white plastics. Condition-wise it is a very clean guitar, showing only light signs of careful use and clearly having been well looked after.

Tonally, the 360 delivers exactly what you would hope for from a modern Rickenbacker. The twin single-coil pickups offer plenty of clarity, chime and definition, with a bright, articulate response that works beautifully for jangly rhythm work, melodic lead lines and more textured indie/alternative sounds. There is a natural openness from the semi-hollow construction, while still retaining enough focus and attack to sit well in a band mix.

Playability is very good indeed, with the slim, fast Rickenbacker neck profile giving the guitar a distinctive feel under the hand. It is comfortable, responsive and immediately inspiring, particularly for players looking for something with its own voice and character rather than another variation on the usual solidbody formula.

A superb, clean example of a modern Rickenbacker 360 in one of the most timeless finishes, offering all the unmistakable style, chime and character that has made these guitars such an important part of electric guitar history.
